To obtain a motorcycle license in Massachusetts (known as a Class M credential), motorists must be at least 16 years of age and they ... must first obtain a motorcycle learner’s permit. As part of these motorcycle drivers license application requirements, motorists must visit a Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) Service Center to complete an application, pass a learner’s permit exam and undergo a vision screening. When applying for a Class M permit, applicants must also submit evidence of their lawful presence, Social Security Number (SSN) and state residency. Then, motorists may obtain a motorbike driving license by completing a Rider Education Program (MREP) or passing a Class M road demonstration. If motorists are younger than 18 years of age, however, they must complete an MREP program before they may obtain a full license. If motorcyclists fail their road test as many as two times, they will need to complete an approved MREP program before they may obtain a full license. In most cases, motorists who successfully complete an MREP program are exempt from completing a Class M road exam through the RMV, unless they are younger than 18 years of age. Read More
